September, 5th, 2009
I got to my new owners home, he's called Pedro and she's Leonor.
I came in a very small and old cage, all dirty and Pedro went out to buy me a new one, but the pet shop in the shopping center just had small ones, so he had to wait for the next day.
I was very afraid and hissed at everybody. I'm about 2 and a half months old, so I should have been born in mids June...

September, 6th, 2009
My owner got me a new, bigger cage, he got me into his kitchen, dimmed down the lights and changed me into my new mansion, I got new dishes, new seeds and a stick with honey and seeds which I'm affraid of and I don't get near.

The perch on my new house is made from sleepery plastic and I keep sliding back and forward. Pedro noticied this and got me new wood perches made from an old loquat tree. Now I'm happier, but I still don't trust these human guys...

Now I've got to go... I've a bit of an apple to go nible...

September, 8th, 2009
Pedro has been reading about my spiecies, I'm still very nervous and hiss everytime his hands are near the cage. He got me a new water container, a closed one, this way i'm not able to get the water all dirty, he also put some vitamin complement in the water, which is supposed to get me lesse stressed also. he also got me some grit for my digestion...
He also got me some banana, but I don't like it. Here's a photo he's took:

(thanks for your replys)

September 9th, 2009
my owner spotted, what seemed to be 2 mites crawling in my feathers, so he got some bird insecticide and took me out of the cage, he grabbed me with a glove, which I didn't like, and while he was applying that annoying thing on me, I bit him on his finger, inspite of the glove, I think he won't forget that next time he wants to grab me...

September 11th, 2009
I'm much calmer now, after being afraid about almost everything inside the cage, today I discovered that a little stick my human gave me, was in fact covered in seeds and honey, So I spent all day eating and chewing on it. When Pedro got home we was glad that I was finally exploring and looked more calm.

A while after that Pedro came near the cage with some green stuff, and he hold it for some time from outside the cage, through the bars. I got closer and closer and when I finally got close enough I tryed coriander for the fist time... I love it!!!

September 12th, 2009
It's the weekend, and my owners are home all day...

Pedro got me some more fresh coriander and raw carrot (which I don't like), I start nibbling the coriander from Pedro's fingers, through the cage bars, I'm starting to trust my owners a bit more.

September 13th, 2009
Pedro whistled at me and used the honey and seeds bar to calm me down as he putted his hand inside the cage, I started to bite the bar, and after a while I was crawling to his hand without even noticing it. watch me: download/file.php?id=27

September 14th, 2009
Well my female owner will be 36 in 2 days, and I will be alone for 5 days, since my owners are going to Algarve (south of the country), well at least a friend of the family will come to visit and feed me during this period.

September 19th, 2009
I'm looking forward for my owners to come back, I've been fed by a friend, but is not the same...

September 20th, 2009
At last, tonight Pedro and Leonor returned, since I was already sleeping I didn't interact much with them, I was so sleepy that I hissed at them when they approached - that should teach them not to leave me alone for so long!!!

September 21th, 2009
I already forgave them, and this morning I am very happy, and making all kind of noises. Pedro and Leonor spent some time with me befora going to work and when they came back.
Today I tryed pumpkin for the first time... I loveeeee it!!!!

I had to laugh. They do punish you when you go away. I am glad s/he forgave you quickly. What a good little tiel to be willing to try new food! :kissy:
Can you describe the noises your bird is making? Are they imitations of the noises s/he is hearing in the environment? Are there any whistles? The type of noises will be giving an indication of whether he is a male.

Ah, baby whistles! I love it when the young ones do that! It is so cute. You may have a little cock bird there. Choose a few notes of a tune to teach him - something very catchy and bright. Whistle it a lot - everytime you think of him. I think that one of the nicest things a tiel can do is to laugh exactly like you. It makes everyone laugh and then the tiel joins in.
