The chicks are looking great so far :D

The ones with the sticky eyes would have conjunctivitis. This is an infection of the eye, it can be mild or life threatening, depending on what is causing the infection.

At best, it would be dust in the eye. This is mild and treatable by simply cleaning their nest box of any dust, and flusing the eye with fresh tea bag and cooled boiling water. Place the wet tea bag on the eye for 1-2 mins to help soften the debris in the eye, then flush with cooled boiling water.

At worst, psittacosis could be the cause as a runny eye is a symptom. without Doxy antibiotics the chicks may die.

Hopefully its just something irritating the eye and not a contagions disease.

The 3 kids are growing, eyes are open, but one eye on a baby seems to have a little crust hanging off. They have their mouths open all the time, and they are like opening and closing their jaws (i think its from the heat). The guys are getting their first feathers, and it seems they will be half Blackish/Half white. Ill try to post pix ASAP. she also laid 1 more egg

i also looked at the eggs from the other batch, and all of them have around half of the space taken by the air pocket + Some have a yellow line going through the middle.

The chicks are opening and shutting their beaks because they are hot.

Sounds like they are doing well :)

I agree the heat is making them open and close their beaks like you mention. They will cope fine in the heat provided they have plenty of fresh water available to the parents at all times.

Keep bathing the chick with the sore eye, it takes a little time to heal and if it gets dirty again it may get infected

Sorry for not bein around much....
Anyways; the babies have weaned; and are flyin around...
But they have become sort of 'untame' now. They dont mind being touched, but if i let them go, they fly away in a second. Is there anyways to retame them?

It is great that you have been able to raise them all under such hot conditions. Well done!
I have found that, when my chicks leave the nest, most of them become skittish and are not as keen to be with me.
I have two suggestions for taming them. First, try to follow a routine so they are used to you doing certain things and at certain times. Then, because you are predictable, you are safe. Second, withhold their favourite food. Make it available to them only from your hand. Sit still with it in your open hand. The parents should lead the way to eat off you hand. The chicks should follow. Make no attempt to touch them. Just let them eat. Eventually, they will start walking over you. If it goes well, they will begin to fly to you to see if you have their favourite food. Don't disppoint them.

Yes, I'd like to hear about the babies, too. They were really cute last time you shared pictures -- any luck on the taming?
